Spencer has spent years waiting for Dahlia Prescott to choose him. When she texts to say she is coming home for dinner, she also sends a photo of the Longines watch he always wanted, orders him to cook lobster tail, and mentions that Gideon Price is coming too. But Spencer has already packed her suitcases. They broke up a week ago, the night she walked out the door and told him that whoever took it back was an asshole.

Dahlia arrives laughing with Gideon, flirting openly in front of Spencer. She finds the kitchen cold, the fridge empty, and boxes stacked in the living room. Gideon scolds Spencer for being selfish, insisting Dahlia has been planning their future and even wants to marry him. Dahlia softens, pulls out the watch, and offers it to Spencer, asking him to stop being angry.

Spencer remembers the fight that ended everything: how she always chose Gideon, how time with him was a burden and time with Gideon was fun. Now, calm, he reminds her that they are done, and that her ex's things should not live in his home.
