From the back cover

Emily wins the latest iPad at her company's annual party, a prize she has long wanted but could never afford. When her sister-in-law Dora demands she hand it over for her nephew Mark's studies, Emily refuses, and the whole family turns on her, calling her an ungrateful freeloader who lives off them after her divorce.

Having moved back into her parents' house after her divorce, Emily pays board and covers costs, yet is treated as an unwelcome guest. Her father calls her a jinx, her mother betrays her confidence about the iPad, and Dora keeps pressing for it. When Emily finally decides to sell it, she opens her locked desk drawer and finds the iPad gone.

With her family's loyalty in question and the thief still in the house, Emily must decide how far she will go to reclaim what is hers.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

The next morning, my sister-in-law, Dora, knocked on my door.

"Hey, could you give that iPad to your nephew, Mark? He's been needing one for his studies, online classes, and assignments. You know how it is. You don't have kids, anyway, so it's not like you'll need it. Just hand it over, okay?"

I refused. What I didn't expect was the entire family turning against me over a single iPad.
