Margot Johanson agrees to marry Dominic Stewart, a comatose man she has never met, to honor an engagement arranged by her late grandfather, Benedict Johanson. Her parents, Fred and Martha, and her brother, Charles, are relieved, since they prefer to keep their adopted daughter, Maisie, at home.
