Grant Miller is thrown back to the exact moment Sienna, a junior colleague, weeps at his desk begging for money for her dying father's liver transplant. This time he refuses. He offers her predatory loan apps instead, then turns her down flat, claiming his wedding and new condo have drained him. Sienna vanishes for two days, and Grant drives to her parents' address, only to find a construction fence and a neighbour who says the family sold out for nearly half a million and moved uptown. The destitute story was a lie.
