It is the day of their marriage, and Christopher waits at the City Hall for Sophie Riverson, who never arrives. The only answer he receives is a photograph from her assistant, Fabian Focker: Sophie seated on Fabian's lap, locked in a kiss. When Christopher demands an explanation, Sophie is impatient, insisting Fabian donated blood to her and telling him to man up. That kills the love he had for her, and he calls her sister, Sylvie, to accept a proposal she once made. Sylvie agrees to return from abroad in two weeks so they can marry.

Sophie comes home at midnight, imperious as ever, treating Christopher like a servant and dismissing their missed marriage license as just a piece of paper worth less than Fabian's birthday. Christopher quietly packs, resigns from the company, and burns the photos of their five years together. Sophie is furious and bewildered, demanding to know what more he wants from her, while Christopher keeps the truth about her sister to himself.

It was the day of our marriage. We were supposed to meet up at the City Hall, but my fiancee stood me up. I waited for her the whole day, and the only answer I got was a picture from her assistant.

My girlfriend sat astride on his lap, and her arms were wrapped around his neck while they were locked in a deep kiss.

"Sorry, Mr. Terraton. Sophie insisted on comforting me. You don't mind, do you?"

I demanded answers from my girlfriend, but that only made her impatient. "He donated his blood to me. Yeah, I was with him, but so what?
