From the back cover

Caleb Stone holds a ticket worth $8.8 million, but the lottery center calls it fake and refuses to pay. When the clerk, Cora, has him escorted out, he collapses to the floor and cries assault, drawing a crowd that turns against the center.

Caleb suffers from severe paranoid personality disorder, and he has rehearsed this exact scene hundreds of times. Every branch of his risk plan, including the confiscation of his ticket, is already mapped out in his head.

The manager, Robert Davies, arrives and calmly declares the ticket counterfeit, slipping it into his pocket. Caleb produces a video of the purchase, but Robert dismisses it as doctored. As the security guard pushes him back, Caleb demands the police be called.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

I hit the $8.8 million jackpot, but the lottery center refused to pay out.

“Fake!”

I was completely floored.

“No way! I just bought it yesterday. How can it be fake?”

The clerk looked annoyed.

“Still putting on a show? Don’t you know it’s fake yourself? Trying to scam money from the lottery center, you must be crazy for cash.”
