From the back cover
Andy Linden, a freshman at a city private university, goes for the compulsory medical exam required of all incoming students. The report comes back stating that he is twelve weeks pregnant. The hospital demands four thousand dollars for prenatal tests and fifteen thousand dollars for pregnancy management, and the nurse and Dr. Michael Little refuse to accept that he is a man, insisting the results are correct and that he must have hidden an early pregnancy.
When Andy protests, the hospital warns that any pregnant student who refuses to pay will be expelled under university regulations. With his grandmother, who raised him and paid for his education, counting on him, dropping out is not an option. He borrows from friends, asks about his scholarship money early and applies for a loan, scraping together the full nineteen thousand dollars just before the payment deadline.
Forced to cooperate with monthly prenatal checkups he does not need, Andy begins to form a plan of his own against a hospital and university that appear to be working together.
Inside the book Opening excerpt
When I refuse to pay, they threaten to have me expelled from the university. I grit my teeth and pay the 19 thousand dollars. I'm also required to go back for prenatal checkups every month.
The day before my due date, the hospital tells me to get admitted and prepare for delivery.
The next morning, the doctor tells me I can leave. Then, I receive a notification from my bank stating that a delivery fee of ten thousand dollars has been deducted from my account.
