For three months, Seraphina Moretti has believed her husband Julian is dead. Then she walks into his private den at Club Allegro and hears his laugh, and finds him in the arms of Bianca Rosso, daughter of the family's rivals. Julian never died; he faked it, and he is draining the Moretti vault to run away with Bianca. He calls Seraphina a pretty, empty doll he was forced to marry, and the iris tattoo he once swore was a sign of their love is just another lie.

Seraphina does not break. She calls Father Gabriel and arranges a formal memorial mass for her husband, then invites every capo of the Family. Julian's men warn her to call it off; Bianca threatens her. Julian's uncle, Dante Moretti, sends his enforcer Marco with a hard drive of photos and bank records, and Seraphina moves into the guarded family estate on Lake Michigan.

At the service, Julian storms in, alive and roaring to take back what is his. Seraphina stands beside Dante and stares him down, demanding he explain the woman, the money and his betrayal to the Family, and to her.
