Asked to book a four-thousand-dollar New Year's Eve dinner, Chloe accepts the transfer and orders a four-hundred-dollar meal instead. At the table, the relatives find only six dishes, and Mia publicly accuses Chloe of skimming. Chloe shows the transfer record: only four hundred dollars arrived. Her mother blames her eyesight, then sends the rest, but Mia demands a full accounting of years of supposed subsidies, and the relatives take her side.
As her mother's face pales and she rises to find a waiter, Chloe must decide whether to keep subsidizing a family that calls her a thief.
