From the back cover

Nora Davis is scammed by a shady landlord into sharing a one-bedroom apartment with a stranger: Ash Sullivan, tall, flawless, and sickly pale. He is also suicidal and deeply obsessive-compulsive, counting out sleeping pills one moment and asking to scrub her messy room the next. Nora, a sleep-deprived corporate worker, mostly wants her rent lowered and her mornings quiet.

When Ash catches her collar tucked in and her pajamas misbuttoned, she answers by asking him to unhook her bra. Between his midnight sobbing, his rubber gloves and mops, and her asymmetrical dark circles, the two negotiate a strange cohabitation where dying and tidying keep interrupting each other.

Nora kicks him out, then orders eye cream overnight. Whether either of them can survive the arrangement is anyone's guess.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

The first time I saw him, he was downing a bottle of sleeping pills like they were candy.

I understood: "You were really hungry, huh?"

But then he saw my messy room and couldn't sleep all night.

The next day, he asked me, "Ms. Davis, can I clean your room?"

The second time, I went home to grab a file and ran into him with blood seeping from his wrist.

That afternoon, with pale lips, he showed up at my office building.

"Ms. Davis, your shirt collar is tucked in."
