For five years, Ryan has followed a system's plot to keep his wife Claire and daughter Sophie alive, enduring memory loss and punishment whenever he deviates. Now the plot has ended, and he overhears Claire and Sophie planning their divorce so Claire can be with Blake, the man Ryan once drove away to protect Sophie.

Ryan agrees to the divorce, but the system warns that the plot's ending was a trick and the characters have gone off script. If he refuses to fix it, he will lose his mind and be cast out of this world forever. Claire files immediately, and Sophie's cold words make clear she wants Blake as her father.

As Ryan prepares to leave the home he built, Blake appears with a ring on his finger, inviting Ryan to witness his marriage to Claire.

The door was half open, and the conversation inside drifted clearly into my ears.

“Mom, do I never have to go to the hospital again?”

My daughter Sophie’s voice rang out.

“Yes,” Claire said gently. “Now that the plot is over, it won’t go off course anymore. Everything will get back on track, and you won’t be punished.”

She was only this gentle when she was facing Sophie.

“What about Uncle Blake?” Sophie asked anxiously. “It’s all Dad’s fault. That’s why Uncle Blake can only sneak in to see me every time.”

“If there were no Dad, we wouldn’t have to live like this, and Mom could stay with Uncle Blake…
