Claire dies quietly at home after making the caramel puddings her husband Daniel loves, her soul unable to leave the house. When Daniel arrives with his assistant Tiffany, Claire can only watch as Tiffany claims Claire texted her threats, and Daniel scolds Claire's still body for what he believes is another performance.

Tiffany then takes Claire's phone, unlocks it with Daniel's birthday, and stages an attack, striking herself with the ashtray and sending a message from Claire's account. Convinced Claire is faking death to manipulate him, Daniel throws water on her face and leaves with Tiffany, while Claire's body begins to show the marks of the end.

Bound to Daniel, Claire follows as Tiffany uses her phone to post threats online, pushing him further away. Only Claire knows the truth: she is not playing.

After finishing a batch of the caramel puddings Daniel loved so much, I lay down on the recliner in the living room to catch my breath. I closed my eyes, and they simply never opened again.

There were so many things I still wanted to tell him. I wanted to tell him that I didn't hate him anymore. I wanted to tell him I’d finally forgiven him for the blurred lines and whispered secrets he shared with his assistant, Tiffany. But those words, like my breath, vanished into the ether.
