From the back cover

Ethan Cole has spent years pursuing Julian's mother, Claire, refusing every rejection with a grin. He calls her Sis, was raised alongside her by Julian's grandparents, and after Julian's father died he simply moved into their home and stayed. Now he crowds into Julian's bed, leaves his pajamas in Julian's closet, and treats the boy like a son he never had.

Julian wants none of it. He ties Ethan up, slaps him, kicks him, and tells him a toad has no business dreaming of a swan. But Ethan only laughs, calls him a rude little mutt, and keeps reaching for him. When Ethan murmurs Claire's name in his sleep and kisses Julian by mistake, Julian's disgust begins to twist into something he refuses to name.

Then a customer at Julian's summer job throws wine in his face, and Ethan steps out of a private room to settle the score. Julian is supposed to hate him, yet Ethan's gentle touch leaves an ache he cannot explain.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

Ethan Cole had been chasing my mom for years.

She’d turned him down clearly and repeatedly.

And he still had the nerve to grin at me and say, “Kid, when I finally win your mom over, remember to call me Dad.”

He got on my last nerve.

So I tied him up and tossed him onto the bed.
