From the back cover

Julian prides himself on being fair, yet every kindness he gives Serena is matched by something far greater for Sierra, the sister who was kidnapped as a child and found years later. When a hurricane strikes their pre-wedding getaway and only two seats remain on the evacuation flight, he writes Sierra's name on the manifest without hesitation, telling Serena to wait and that a little hardship will do her good.

Left behind in the flooded streets, Serena watches her parents celebrate Sierra's rescue while no one asks whether she is alive. She sends a message to a contact she has not touched in years: come get me, and I will marry you. When Julian finally appears at her hospital bed, he brings seafood chowder, forgetting she is allergic to it.

As her family's door code is changed and her old promises are tossed away, Serena must decide what marrying a stranger truly means.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

My fiancé always prided himself on being fair.

If he bought me a box of berries, he’d buy my long-lost sister the latest Apple ecosystem.

If he brought me an umbrella, he’d drive her to work right on time whenever it poured.

Even for our pre-wedding getaway, he booked the tropical island she had been dying to visit.

He always said, "Sierra suffered so much out there all those years. Why do you have to compete with her?"

"You both get something. That’s called being fair."
