After graduation, Will announces he has only two VIP pit tickets to the music festival, and he is taking Daisy. Iris is left to watch the big screen from the general admission lawn. When the cameras catch Will and Daisy together and the crowd chants for a kiss, Will does not pull away. Later, at the subway turnstiles, Iris sees Daisy wearing Will's windbreaker and holding the signed tote bag Iris had asked him to get her. Will offers to buy her a replacement online; Iris refuses a secondhand copy and walks away.
Will assumes Iris will cool down by morning, as she always has. But after twelve years of yielding—seats, notes, trips, tickets—Iris goes home and erases the red circle around Columbia's Pre-Med program from her college binder, the school Will made her promise to apply to with him.
When Will asks to borrow that binder for Daisy the next morning, Iris keeps her hand flat on the cover.
