After Jane is raped and murdered on her way home from school, her mother Laura Sullivan, a cold woman who always resented her daughter, begins selling meat buns that draw crowds and dark rumors. When a severed finger turns up in one, the police seal off the shop and find human remains in her broth and on her cutting board. Laura confesses without flinching, and the officers open the refrigerator to find what is left of Jane.

As a ghost, Jane watches her mother pace the house, calling her phone again and again, and remembers the years of blame: the son Laura lost, the husband who left for Ava, the belief that Jane was never enough. Laura reports her daughter sick to school and keeps the shop running.

Then, on the seventh night, Laura stands before Jane's shrine and offers up one of the men who destroyed her as a sacrifice.

Rumors began to spread that the thugs who’d gone missing in our town might’ve somehow ended up inside the buns.

"How could that be? I’d never use old meat in my buns," she said with a smirk.

One day, someone found a severed finger in one of her buns.

The shop erupted in chaos. Customers screamed, some ran out, others vomited.

The police arrived quickly, sealing off the scene.
