Sarah was abandoned at birth in a small southern town and raised by a blind widow, while her sister Nina was cherished as the family's lucky charm. When the ruined Hawthorne family demanded the old marriage agreement be honored, Nina begged Sarah to take her place and marry the cold, ruthless Liam Hawthorne. Sarah obeyed, and after two years in the Hawthorne mansion she was murdered by Nina, who stabbed her in the heart while their parents held her down.
