My Superstar Ex Hated Me

From the back cover

Julian has already accepted the end. Diagnosed with advanced melanoma five years ago, he has outlived every expectation, and when a doctor gently tells him to rest and travel, he simply nods and walks out of the clinic. Minutes later, a call fires him from his low-end waiter job. Penniless, he returns to the illegal rooftop shack he calls home just as a demolition crew tears it down. Across the street, a billboard shows Mia Vance, the ex-girlfriend he walked out on when she was at her lowest, now an A-list superstar.

Mia sends him a friend request and two cutting messages, then asks to meet. Over coffee she mocks his lies about a great career, a wife and a child, and reminds him that he abandoned her when she had nothing. She is marrying Scott Evans, a newly minted A-list actor, and she leaves him a gold-embossed wedding invitation.

Julian, who once designed the global hit game Second Life before being forced out and stripped of its rights, has nothing left but a designer duffle bag, a final voice note, and a wedding to attend.
