Faye was a painter until a car accident took her sight. Her childhood friend Connor Pitt stayed by her side, becoming the only light in her life, and later they married. Two years on, she finds a recording on the computer: Connor confessing that he took her corneas for June Austen, and that he married her to keep her blind and under his control.

She sends herself a copy, schedules an abortion, and signs the consent form alone. A new ophthalmologist tells her a cornea transplant could restore her sight, though doctors Connor once took her to had said her eyes were beyond cure. At home Connor still plays the devoted husband, while news reveals Pitt Group bidding up June's paintings at auction.

After three hospitals confirm her sight could return, Faye collects divorce papers. Then June herself drives her to Connor's company, mocking her blindness the whole way.
