Not Trapped with You, Not Trapped in Love

From the back cover

On their tenth wedding anniversary, Selena files for divorce from her husband, Ryan Farnanadez. For over a decade she gave her youth and hard work to a man who surrounds himself with young girls and never hides his affairs. She sends back the puppy he gifted her and waits, but he never answers her messages.

That night Ryan's new secretary, Zenelia Devis, arrives at the door in tears, begging Selena not to be cruel to Ryan. Ryan follows, comforts Zenelia and turns on Selena, mocking her age and calling her childish. Later he throws money at her and shrugs off the puppy as Zenelia's harmless gift, while the crystal ball lamp she brought home goes unrecognised, though he once made her one by hand and engraved their names on it.

When Selena sees the marks on his neck, he pushes her down, and the lamp shatters. Bleeding, she cleans the mess alone. The signed divorce papers still lie untouched beneath the lamp.
