Cole gave up a promising career as a medical examiner to become the full-time husband of Stella, a famous actress. One night she stumbles home from a wrap party, her gown torn, claiming the director, Vance, attacked her in a private lounge. She begs Cole to help her gather evidence: he is to hide in a closet with a hidden camera and record Vance the next time he comes to her hotel room. But Cole's trained eye reads her injuries too well, and he already knows the truth. Three days earlier, her car's Bluetooth had played him a recording of a call with Vance, in which the two of them laughed about how easily her "stiff" husband would play along, and about how thrilling it would be to have him watch.

Cole says nothing. He agrees to her plan, plays the devoted husband, and sits quietly through a dinner where Vance humiliates him in front of the whole table. Stella never notices that her phone is still on an active call to Vance, or that the man reflected in the mirror wears a blank, emotionless mask.

If it is a game she wants, he will play along. But this time, the rules are his.
