From the back cover

Sloane is a literalist who has never understood jokes, and her habit of taking every remark at face value has taught everyone around her to keep their distance. When her fiancé Julian's best friend Kelly taunts her at a pre-wedding party with intimate knowledge of Julian's body, Sloane demands proof on the spot and exposes a video Kelly sent her the day before.

Julian's family insists it was all harmless fun, and Julian himself warns Sloane to behave, reminding her that the merger between their families depends on the engagement. Sloane plays along, but she has already planted a camera in Julian's suit lapel before his birthday banquet.

What the camera captures on the balcony leaves the Vance family speechless, and Sloane keeps asking, with wide-eyed innocence, which parts are jokes and which are not.

Then came my engagement, and my fiancé’s "just one of the guys" best friend.
