From the back cover

For five years, Saffron has lived by her fiancé Logan's holiday rule: a draw of wooden sticks decides whether they visit her parents or his best friend Chloe. Her name has never once been pulled. When she accidentally knocks over the lot container, she finds two sticks, both carved with Chloe's name, and realizes the game was rigged from the start.

On Thanksgiving, Logan draws a stick and reads Saffron's name, then turns on her in fury, accusing her of tampering. Chloe openly admits the draw was only ever a trick to keep Saffron quiet, and Logan defends the arrangement as something that made everyone happy. He tells Saffron to wait for next time and not be a sore loser.

Saffron's parents, six hundred miles away, have never met her fiancé, and this Thanksgiving they expect her to bring him home. She smiles and nods, knowing the man she brings may not be Logan at all.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

It was supposed to fairly decide whether we spent the holidays at my parents' house or at the home of his female best friend, Chloe.

In our five years together, my name was never drawn. Not once.

Until right before this Thanksgiving.

For the first time, I begged him to skip the game.

"Logan, we're getting married soon, and my parents haven't even met you yet."

He just looked annoyed.
