I pinched my thigh hard to stop myself from speaking out. Instead, I forced a smile.
"Bella, this drink really looks amazing. You have to share the recipe with us sometime!"
Bella looked shocked. She clearly didn't expect me to be the first one to support her. But she quickly assumed I was just trying to play along.
She rolled her eyes and scoffed lightly. "Of course! But you know, even with the same ingredients, not everyone can make it taste this good. It takes talent."
"Right, Kevin?"
Kevin nodded enthusiastically, completely forgetting I was his girlfriend. He looked at me with disdain.
"Exactly. Your brain is just full of books. You don't know how to think creatively for everyone."
"All you know is buying ready-made medicine. Like we can't afford to buy it ourselves?"
In my past life, I would have argued back, hurt by his words. But this time, I just lowered my head and nodded like a fool.
Bella looked disappointed that I didn't fight back. It felt like punching cotton.
But she didn't stay mad for long. She immediately handed a cup to me, then distributed one to everyone else.
In the end, there wasn't a drop left for herself.
I held the icy cup, finding it hilarious. Bella clearly knew this stuff wasn't safe to drink.
Kevin immediately snatched my cup and offered it to Bella. "Here, you drink hers. She bought her own medicine, she can take that. We can't have you getting heatstroke!"
Bella didn't take it. She just smiled sweetly. "I drank some while making it last night, and more on the way here. If I drink any more, my body will get too cold."
