For eight years, Emily has loved Mark Perrette in secret. He insists an office romance would ruin her reputation, so he hides her behind his best friend, Katrina Palmer. On their wedding day, he drops Emily at the service entrance behind the reception hall and walks Katrina through the main doors. Emily arrives to find Mark and Katrina saying "I do" at the altar while their coworkers cheer for the couple they have always rooted for.

When Emily tells them they no longer need to hide, Mark ignores her and carries Katrina in his arms. Their coworkers mock Emily as a desperate woman staging a scene, and Mark silences the room only to protect Katrina's feelings. Outside, a giant screen shows thousands of photos of Mark and Katrina, the display concept Emily once planned for their own wedding.

Back at her hotel, Mark's messages demand an apology and a lunch for the office. He spends fifteen thousand dollars from her account to apologize in her name. Emily finally types that they are done.
